Asom killings: JD-U demands Patil's resignation
New Delhi, Jan 9: Criticising the Congress government in Asom andat the Centre, the Janata Dal (United) has demanded the resignation ofHome Minister Shivraj Patil in view of the killings of innocentnon-Assamese migrants by ULFA over the past three days.
''The killings of non-Assamese migrants were possible on accountof an undeclared alliance between the Congress party and the UnitedLiberation Front of Asom,'' alleged the JD(U) at an emergency meetingheld here today under the Chairmanship of Mr Sharad Yadav.
The Asom government and the Centre had been ''ignoring'' thewarning given by the Governor, Armed forces and intelligence agencies.''They have allowed the ULFA to reorganise itself misusing theceasefire,'' the party charged.
The party also demanded that certain affected areas of Asom beimmediately declared as disturbed and the armed forces should take careof the security there.
