ULFA's bloodbath in Upper Asom barbaric: BJP

Itanagar, Jan 9: Describing the recent killing of Hindi-speaking people by ULFA in Upper Asom as ''inhuman and barbaric,'' the Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP has strongly condemned the acts of the outfit.

Expressing deep anguish over the unfortunate incident, state BJP president Tapen Siga today said the violence and torture on innocent workers had ''crossed all limits.'' He also blamed the ruling Congress government for its misrule and accused it for having a soft corner for the outfits for 'petty political gain'.

''The present government is non-committal in solving the decades old sensitive problem.'' he charged,adding that the imbroglio had not only retarded the socio-economic development in Asom but had spread a sense of insecurity across all other North Eastern states.

Asking the Asom and UPA government for evolving a strategic and comprehensive policy immediately to tackle the situation and provide full security to them, the BJP appealed to all sections of Asom to rise above all differences and maintain peace and tranquility at this critical juncture.
