TC threatens to bring privilege motion on Ratan Tata
Kolkata, Jan 2: Taking great exception to the allegation of MrRatan Tata that rival business forces were behind the Singur movement,the Trinamool Congress today threatened to sue the Tata Group Chairmanand bring a privilege motion against him in the West Bengal Assembly.
''We have set a seven-day deadline for Mr Tata to either provewhat he said or tender an apology. Otherwise we will file a defamationsuit in the court and move a privilege motion against him in theAssembly,'' leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee said after ameeting of the party legislators and former MLAs.
Mr Tata had told NDTV during an interview that a competitor ofTata Motors was fuelling the opposition movement against landacquisition at Singur to delay execution of the small car project.
Pointing out that though party supremo Mamata Banerjee hadwithdrawn her hunger strike, Mr Chatterjee said the Trinamool Congresswould continue the agitation on the issue and a decision had been takento extend the movement to district level.
