'Mamata breaking fast is a half win for Aam admi'

New Delhi, Dec 29: Expressing happiness over Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee breaking her 25-day fast late last night, the BJP today said that the battle for justice to farmers in West Bengal and other states was just ''half won''.

BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, commenting on the Trinamool chief breaking her fast, said but for the intervention of national leaders like President A P J Abdul Kalam and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other BJP leaders, there was every danger of the precious life of Ms Banerjee getting lost.

''It is unfortunate that the UPA coalition which ascended to power in the name of 'common man' was seeking to exploit the very class they derived support from. The Communists and Congress parties are busy making a mockery of their own electoral promises after their treachery at Singur.

''They have now been totally exposed by Ms Banerjee who did not care for her own life to save fertile lands of the farmers,'' Mr Naqvi said adding, the BJP and the NDA parties would continue to support her struggle to the hilt.
