Jessica murder case: Manu Sharma gets lifer

New Delhi, Dec 20: Manu Sharma, prime accused in murder of model Jessica Lal gets life imprisonment. Manu also gets 4 years each under Arms Act and for Criminal Conspiracy. Compensation of Rs 50,000 should be paid by Manu to the victim's family.

While, Vikas Yadav and Amardeep Gill, co-accused in the case get 4 years rigorous imprisonment for aiding and abetment of the crime.

The court had on Monday found Manu, son of a powerful Haryana Congress politican, guilty of shooting Jessica after she refused to serve him liquor at a party in a Delhi restaurant.

A Division Bench of Justices R S Sodhi and P K Bhasin convicted Manu, son of former Haryana Minister Venod Sharma, under sections 302 (culpable homicide amounting to murder) and section 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sabrina, sister of Jessica Lal expresses happiness at the quantum of punishment given to Manu sharma but maintains that it should not effect his family. 'I really could not ask from God for more', says Sabrina Lall.
