BHU medicos revive anti-quota stir with hunger strike

Varanasi, Dec 16: Doctors at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) here this evening revived the anti-reservation stir with a protest march followed by relay hunger strike, to demand the scrapping of bill paving way to staggered OBC reservation in institutions of higher education.

The resident doctors and MBBS students were joined by students from other BHU faculties, including Commerce, Social Sciences and Institute of Technology in the protest march from the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) gate to the varsity main gate.

Raising anti-reservation slogans, the protestors demanded that the OBC quota bill be scrapped immediately.

Convenor of BHU Resident Doctors Association-Youth for Equality Kamal Gupta said that students of IMS-BHU have also resorted to relay hunger strike against the bill. A meeting of anti-reservation brigade is slated later this evening where further course of action will chalked out, he added.
