IIT student start fast unto death over Quota
Kanpur, Dec 16: A student of the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) here today began a fast-unto-death in protest against 27 per cent reservation for backwards in higher education institutes.
IIT senior student and Youth for Equality convenor Chandrashekhar has started the hunger strike against the central government decision to give reservation to the backward students in admission in the higher education institutes.
He said he will continue to work in the lab during his fast and if his health deteriorates, some other student will replase him.
''I have informed my decision to go on a fast to the IIT authorities and student leaders from other parts of the country are in touch with me'', he said.
