SL Prez Rajapakse arrives to hold talks with PM
New Delhi, Nov 25: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse arrived here today on a five-day visit during which he will hold discussions with the Indian leadership on the progress in the peace talks with the Tamil rebels and also the current political situation in the island nation.
Mr Rajapakse's visit is mainly to attend the first Asian Mayors' Conference being held in Dehra Dun from tomorrow till November 28.
During his stay in the capital, the President will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani. He will also attend the wedding reception of Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's daughter on November 27.
The President is scheduled to return on November 29.
Sri Lankan Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe is also visiting Delhi on November 29, the sources said.
