Government is alive to UNI issue: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Nov 23: The government today informed the Rajya Sabha that it was aware about the sale of a majority stake in the United News of India (UNI) to a media group, Zee Telefilms.

Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi, in a written reply, said the matter was presently sub judice.

Mr Dasmunsi was replying to a question by Moinul Hasan whether the government was aware about the happenings in UNI and what steps have been taken to stall the move to ensure free flow of impartial news coverage and competition among the news agencies to safeguard freedom of the press.
