New Delhi, Nov 22: The Left parties would raise in the ongoing session of Parliament the issue of sale of a majority stake in UNI to a media house, Mediavest, if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention fell short of their expectations, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechuri said today.

At a news conference here, Mr Yechuri said, "we have already taken up the issue with Dr Manmohan Singh who has directed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to take appropriate action in consultation with four concerned ministries and the Joint Action Committee (JAC), representing employees, and other stake-holders."

Mr Yechuri's remarks came at a media briefing on the first day of the four-week long winter session of Parliament where CPI Deputy leader in the Lok Sabha C K Chandrappan and CPI(M) floor leader in the Lok Sabha and party chief whip Rup Chand Pal were also present.

As a follow-up of the Prime Minister's directive, I&B Minister P R Dasmunsi has already met representatives of the JAC and the UNI management.
