New Delhi: Traders observe strike, sealing on
New Delhi, Nov 10: Traders in the national capital are observing a day-long 'bandh' against resumption of sealing even as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi continued its drive against unauthorised commercial establishments in the residential areas of the capital, for the third day today.
All markets would be closed, said Mr Ramesh Khanna, Vice President of Confederation of All India Traders that is spearheading the traders' agitation against the sealing drive.
Traders will also organise a protest rally in the evening from Town Hall to Delhi Assembly demanding an immediate stop to sealing and also that the authorities did not ''harass'' their leaders.
The traders' 'bandh' was the third they had observed in a fortnight, which had been marred by violence, vandalism and arson.
Hence, Delhi Police along with central para-military forces had been deployed to ensure there was no untoward incident in the city.
Meanwhile, all schools in the city, government-run as well as private, were opened today.
The MCD in the meantime had sealed 237 units in posh South Delhi since the drive re-started on November 8. The operations had, however, been peaceful so far.
The drive would continue focusing on up-market outlets in South Delhi on the municipality's 'A' and 'B' list of colonies, especially those whose owners had filed affidavits.
The sealing drive was being carried out on the orders of the Supreme Court and as per schedule charted by its Monitoring Committee.
