Sensex touches a new peak of 13,186.69
Mumbai, Nov 6: The Sensex spurted to a new high of 13,186.69 today with a gain of 56.10 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE) following sustained buying demand from Foreign Institutional Investors'(FIIs).
The index pivotals continued to rise for the fourth consecutive day and settled at higher levels, brokers said.
The Sensex opened on a firm note at 13,155.11. It zoomed to an all time peak of 13,206.87 during the late afternoon session. Its low for the day was at 13,113.39.
The S&P CNX Nifty rose 3.9 points or 0.10 per cent to 3809.25.
Before it opened flat at 3804.75 points. Meanwhile, it recorded high of 3822.40 points and low of 3798.25 points during the intra- day session.
The BSE mid cap index also rose by 57.65 points at 5551.69 while small cap index went up by 61.44 points at 6534.39. Metal index shot up by 157.57 points and was quoted at 9220.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 4240 crore, higher than Friday's turnover of Rs 4034.07 crore.
The market breadth was positive on BSE, with 1395 shares advancing as compared to 1147 that declined. 54 remained unchanged.
Among the Sensex pack, 15 advanced while the rest declined,brokers added.
