LFW draws to close with Sabyasachi's grand finale
Mumbai, Nov 5: The Lakme Fashion Week (LFW), which held the city enthralled for the past four days with works of some of the genius designers like Narendra Kumar and the South African designers, concluded yesterday with the talented Sabyasachi Mukherjee presenting the grand finale.
The theme of the grand finale was ''Free Spirit'' and Sabyasachi has designed the entire collection as models Raima Sen, Katrina Kaif and Indrani Sengupta (who is also the face of Lakme) walked the ramp.
The stars present on the occasion were Tabu, Milind Soman, Ria Sen, former actress Madhu, model Madhu Sapre, Rahul Bose, Suchitra Pillai and socialite Queenie Dhody to name a few.
In 2001, Sabyasachi won the Femina British Council's most outstanding young designer of India award which took him to London for an internship with Georgina Von Etzdorf an eclectic designer based in Salisbury.
2003, Sabyasachi made his international mark by bagging the grand winner award at the Mercedes Benz new Asia Fashion Week in Singapore.
In 2004, Sabyasachi went global with the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, the Fashion Week of America in Miami and forayed into films with his costumes designed for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's landmark film ''Black''. He is also designing costumes for the forthcoming film ''Babul''.
Recently, he earned the distinction of being the only Indian designer invited to showcase at the Milan Fashion Week 2004 and was voted by Asia Inc, a Singapore-based Business magazine as one of the ten most influential Indian in Asia alongside Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Gandhi, Sabeer Bhatia at all.
