Sensex opens strong by 21pts at 12,757 mark
Mumbai, Oct 23: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (sensex) today opened 21 points in the green at 12,757.31, but, soon turned negative as volatility emerged, pulling the sensex down by almost 100 points.
All the major sectoral indices on the BSE are trading in the red, with the FMCG sector leading the downslide. It is currently down by 1.33 per cent and IT sector is down by 1.29 per cent.
This volatility is mostly on account of cautious selling in the heavy weight stocks.
The pack of gainers is led by Bajaj Auto and is followed by Reliance Communications, Maruti Udyog, HDFC bank, Tata Motors, ACC and L&T, all up between 0.25 to 1.58 per cent.
Hindalco, ITC, Satyam, TCS, Infosys and Wipro are among the top ten losers on the BSE-30 index, all were down between 1.50 to 1.92 per cent.
