Sensex opens strong by 33 on RIL resutlts
Mumbai, Oct 20: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) today opened 33 points in the green as Reliance presented more than expected second quarter results yesterday.
Reliance Industries net profit grew to more than 2700 crores, and their operating profit saw an increase of more than 20 per cent over the previous numbers for the same period. This result has crossed all street excpectations and has given some sembelance of decency to the sensitve index, after they registered two consecutive losses.
Currently the BSE sensex is trading 84.73 points up at 12,808.32, as all the BSE sectoral indices are trading in the green. Consumer Durables sector is trading 1.00 per cent up, Capital goods is up by 1.12 per cent, and the metals sector is up by 1.64 per cent.
Major gainers on the index are Tata Steel, Wipro, Reliance Industries, BHEL, Reliance Energy, Bharti Airterl, Ranbaxy Lab, Tata Motors, Gujarat Ambuja and Cipla all up between 1.02 to 3.13 per cent.
Besides the losers are Satyam Computers, ITC, Bajaj auto, Dr Reddy's Lab, ONGC and ICICI all down between 0.03 to 0.33 per cent.
