Sensex down 78 pts in the noon trade

Mumbai, Oct 23: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is today trading 78 points down at 12,659.17 in the noon trade, as volatility hightens it's grip on all the major sectors.

Even the midcap and the smallcap indices are down by 0.56 and 0.14 per cent. However, amongst the various sectoral indices on the BSE only the auto sector is trading in the green by 0.06 er cent.

Leading gainers on the BSE-30 index are Bajaj Auto, Reliance Energy, Maruti Udyog, Reliance Communications, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, L&T and Bharti airtel, all up between 0.08 to 1.71 per cent.

The losers are Hindalco, Satyam, ITC, Cipla, Infosys, Ranbaxy, TCS, Dr Reddy's Lab, ICICI Bank and Wipro, who are all down between 1.06 to 2.00 per cent.
