59 fresh dengue cases despite Diwali celebrations
New Delhi, Oct 21: With winter knocking the doors and crackers bursting all over the city, dengue cases were expected to recede, but with 59 more admissions at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences today the disease seems to refuse to leave Delhi.
With this, total confirmed cases in the Capital has spurted to 187 with another 120 kept under observation.
Despite 57 people being discharged in the last 24 hours from the AIIMS the total number of those affected by the viral disease was close to touching the 2,000 figure.
However, no deaths were reported today and dengue toll in the Capital so far remains at 41.
More than 22,000 patients have been screened at the AIIMS emergency OPD since October 3 and the hospital is conducting more than 2,000 platelet-counting tests daily with the help of four separator machines functioning round-the-clock.
