N Korea missile test would be provocative: UK
London, Oct 3: Britain today said it would view any North Korean nuclear missile test as ''a highly provocative act with serious consequences for the DPRK (North Korea)''.
''It would raise tensions in an already tense region and have repercussions internationally,'' a Foreign Office spokesman said in response to Pyongyang's announcement that it would conduct a nuclear test at some point in the future.
''The UK believes the six-party talks continue to represent the best mechansism for progress towards the denuclearisation of the Korean pensiula and for bringing the DPRK into the international community,'' the spokesman said.
The six-party talks, involving the two Koreas, China, Japan, Russia and the United States, are aimed at resolving the stand-off over North Korea's nuclear ambitions. They have been stalled since November.
