S Korea calls high-level security meeting
SEOUL, Oct 3: South Korean security officials have met today to discuss a response to North Korea's statement that it would conduct a nuclear test in the future, President Roh Moo-hyun's spokesman said.
Spokesman Yoon Tae-young said the result of the meeting, attended by senior government officials in charge of national security, would be issued soon.
Roh did not attend the meeting, Yoon said.
North Korea said it would conduct a nuclear test but would never use atomic weapons first and was committed to ridding the Korean peninsula of nuclear arms.
