Shabir Shah put under house arrest in Srinagar
Srinagar, Sep 29: Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah was today put under house arrest, official sources said.
Mr Shah told UNI over phone from his Rawalpora residence that a large number of police personnel have been deployed outside his house since early this morning.
He said a senior police officer informed him that he cannot move out of his residence till further orders.
The DFP chief said he was scheduled to lead peaceful demonstration in the city against the Delhi courts order to hang Afzal Guru, prime accused in the Parliament attack case.
He said the order to hang Guru will further complicate the situation in the Kashmir valley.
Guru is innocent and has been implicated in the case as there was no evidence which could prove that he was involved in the attack, Shah said and demanded his immediate release.
He said peaceful demonstration throughout the state will continue till the Government revoke the death sentence of Guru.
Meanwhile, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Jammu and Kashmir National Front was also put under house arrest.
Khan was scheduled to lead a demonstration at historic Jamia Masjid in the down town this afternoon.
