Manmohan Singh on a 2 day visit to Ludhiana
Ludhiana, Sep 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived here today amid tight security on a two-day visit to Punjab and Chandigarh.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, landed at Halwara airport from where he flew in a chopper to Punjab Agriculture University.
Dr Singh will lay the foundation stone of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (eastern) project and conduct remote inauguration of Chandigarh-Morinda rail line and remote flagging off Amritsar-Haridwar Jan Shatabdi Express train in a ceremony here.
He will also address a public meeting at the Guru Nanak Stadium on the occasion.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Ladowal farm house of Bharti Enterprises on the outskirts of the city and then lay a foundation stone of Indian Institute of Science for Education and Research at Mohali, near Chandigarh, in the evening.
Dr Singh will inaugurate the Northern States Chief Ministers' Conclave in Chandigarh tomorrow which is being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).
