PM to address rally in Ludhiana on Sept 27
Chandigarh, Sep 26: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address a public meeting in Ludhiana tomorrow amidst heavy security arrangements, even as the Opposition Shiromani Akali Dal plans an agitation on the occasion.
In view of the agitation by students in Ludhiana last week, the Punjab cops have fortified the Guru Nanak Stadium where the PM would convey the message of the ruling Congress to the people of the state where assembly polls are due in February 2007.
Dr Singh is also scheduled to visit the Ladowal farmhouse of Bharti Enterprises on the outskirts of Ludhiana and then lay a foundation stone of Indian Institute of Science for Education and Research at Mohali near here in the evening tomorrow.
On September 28, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Northern States Chief Ministers' Conclave in Chandigarh, being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).
