Sonia, PM announced nothing for Uttaranchal
Dehra Dun, Sep 24: BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad today lamented that neither Congress President Sonia Gandhi nor Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made any announcement for Uttaranchal during the two-day conclave of chief ministers of Congress-ruled states in Nainital.
Addressing the media, Mr Prasad, who was here to review organisational work in the state capital, said that showed what kind of importance the Congress high command attached to Uttaranchal.
He said, '' It seems that the Congress has already accepted its defeat in the upcoming assembly elections in the state and that is why nothing came from its kitty for Uttaranchal.'' Assailing the Congress for its indifference towards Uttaranchal, Mr Prasad said, ''The crime graph is rising in the state and the Congress Government has been unable to bring it down. '' But if the BJP Government, he said, came to power in the state it would deal with crime with an iron hand and provide good governance to the people.
Informing about the future course of action of the BJP in the state, Mr Prasad said the party would undertake two Parivartan Yatras from November 9 to 30 simultaneously, which would be spearheaded by party's state chief Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and MP Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri.
