Bhopal, Sept 21: Reiterating his demand for CBI inquiry into the death of Ujjain's Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal in student violence on August 26, his son Himanshu Sabharwal today alleged that the role of the Madhya Pradesh Government has been suspicious in the matter from beginning.

Mr Sabharwal told reporters here that two eyewitnesses had come forward in the matter so far. However, he had a third eyewitness and he will present him before media at a proper time.

He said the case file was still empty and it raised several questions.

He said he had met senior BJP leaders in connection with his father's death. However, he had not met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Pointing out that his father had died while on duty, Mr Sabharwal said no announcement regarding providing ex-gratia or other relief had been made so far.

He claimed that only those police personnel were suspended who were shown in video footage, while no action was taken against other personnel.

Mr Sabharwal alleged that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was trying to divert attention from the matter by playing politics over the issue.

On a senior BJP leader's comment that the issue was being politicised, Mr Sabharwal said he had no political ambitions but the incident had changed his outlook for viewing problems related to public.
