Blast at Uttar Pradesh madrasa creates panic
Lucknow, Sept 21: Panic gripped the communally sensitive Mau town in East Uttar Pradesh after a low-intensity blast at a local madrasa.
The blast took place in Darul Uloom Madrasa in Sabzi Mandi area late last night, police reports reaching at the state headquarters said.
Though the exact cause of the explosion was still unclear, police have launched investigations to ascertain the reason.
Since Mau district has a history of communal clashes, a posse of police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel were deployed in the area. With the festival of Navratra round the corner security has been beefed up in the district.
In October last year, Mau had witnessed a communal flare up which left at least seven people dead. Controversial Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari and 32 others were last week discharged by a local court for their involvement in riots. The MLA and others were discharged for want of evidence as most of the witnesses had turned hostile.
