Sensex opens marginally up, trades at 12,110 pts
Mumbai, Sep 19: The BSE Sensex today opened 32 points in the green at 12,103.44, as buying continued in the heavy weight stocks, backed by firm performance of the benchmark Asian indices.
Currently the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is trading at 12,110.55 points, which is 39 points more than the previous close.
Amongst the sectoral indices, Bankex was trading down by 0.17 per cent, whereas the gainers were led by metals sector which was trading up by 1.24 per cent and Capital Goods was up by 0.97 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were Reliance Communications, Satyam, Dr Reddy's Lab, TCS, Hindalco, Ranbaxy, Tata Steel, NTPC, ONGC and ITC - all up from 0.48 to 2.11 per cent.
Besides, the losers were HDFC, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Cipla, Bharti Airtel, SBI, Hero Honda, Reliance Energy, Gujarat Ambuja and Grasim Industries - all down from 0.12 to 1.00 per cent.
