Ujjain: Move to attach property of ABVP leaders
Ujjain, Sept 16: The Crime Investigation Department of Madhya Pradesh police has initiated steps for attaching the immovable property of four absconding ABVP leaders wanted in the murder of Prof H S Sabharwal here during students violence.
The CID has sought details of the properties owned by the absconding leaders, Hemant Dube, Sudhir Yadav, Pankaj Mishra and Vishal Rajoria, named as accused in the murder. The information was sought yesterday by the District Collector and Building Permission Officer of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation, official sources said.
Among the absconding leaders, Hemant Dube and Sudhir Yadav were on bail after their arrest earlier on the charge of rioting.
The CID, which was entrusted with the probe by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, had already arrested two prominent ABVP leaders on murder charge. ABVP state president Shashi Ranjan Singh Akela and organising secretary Vimal Tomar are on judicial remand till September 29.
A total of 37 people, including 9 of ABVP, had been arrested so far after students assaulted professors and indulged in vandalism following postponement of students union elections at Madhav College on August 26. The agitated students assaulted Prof Sabharwal resulting in his death and blackened the face of another professor M L Nath and caused damage to college property. Later, many Congress and NSUI workers were booked for rioting during Ujjain bandh to protest against the murder.
