Prof murder: ABVP leaders' remand extended

Ujjain, Sept 15: Judicial Magistrate R S Madiya today extended till September 29 the judicial custody of ABVP leaders Shashi Ranjan Singh Akela and Vimal Tomar, who were arrested on the charge of murdering Prof H S Sabharwal during students violence at Madhav College on August 26.

The CID, which is probing into the students violence, identified four more ABVP leaders and sought their arrest on murder charge.

A total of 37 people, including 9 of ABVP, had been arrested so far in connection with rioting, Prof Sabharwal's murder and assaulting another professor M L Nath in the violence after postponement of students union elections at the college.
