Sensex opens strong, trades at 11,947 pts
Mumbai Sep 15: The Bombay Stock Exchange opened with a marginal gap on the positve side at 11,977.69, however it soon dipped to a low of 11,847 as selling pressure emerged in the consumer durables, IT and metal scrips.
Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE many of them were trailing in red FMCG sector was down by 0.26 per cent, health care index was down by 0.32 per cent whereas consumer durables and IT were down by 0.53 and 0.79 per cent respectively.
Major gainers on the index were Bharti Airtel, HDFC bank, Hero Honda, Grasim Industries, L&T, HLL and ACC all up between 0.38 to 1.71 per cent.
Besides the losers were, Hindlaco, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Communications, Infosys Technology, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Cipla, Wipro, ITC and TCS all down between 0.51 to 1.49 per cent.
