Sensex up 79 pts, fails to sustain 12k mark

Mumbai, Sep 14: Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) Sensitive index (Sensex) closed 79 points up at 11,973 on renewed buying and positive global cues, after hitting the psychological barrier of 12k during the day's trade.

It, however, shyed to sustain itself at that position.

Similarly, the NSE S&P CNX Nifty rose 17.05 points to finish on 3,471.60 points.

Meanwhile, the crude oil price in the US market rose marginally.

The Nymex light crude oil for October delivery rose 21 cents to US dollars 63.97 a barrel, while the London Brent crude was up 14 cents at USD 65.35 per barrel.
