Sensex up marginally in opening move, to touch 12K
Mumbai, Sep 6: The BSE Sensex opened marginally in the green today at 11,908 points compared to the previous close of 11,904 points, as the benchmark metals and the capital goods indices showed a strong recovery and edged higher.
Currently the Sensex is close to touch the 12K mark and is at its highest in the last three-and-half months.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is right now trading at 11,977 points.
In the sectoral indices on BSE, metals led the pack of gainers, up by 1.77 per cent, followed by capital goods up by 1.32 per cent and FMCG sector which up by 1.22 per cent. There were no losers on the indices.
Asian markets were subdued-to-weak on Wednesday. Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan were down by from 0.34 to 0.8 per cent.
Major gainers on the index are Reliance Energy, Dr Reddy's Lab, ITC, L&T, Hindalco, Tata steel, Maruti Udyog, Reliance Communications, NTPC and Tata Motors, all up from 0.91 to 2.94 per cent.
Besides, the losers included ONGC, HDFC, HDFC Bank, TCS, Bharti Airtel and Grasim, all down from 0.08 to 1.24 per cent.
