Sensex up by 13 points in opening move today
Mumbai, Sept 5: The BSE Sensex opened marginally in the green today at 11,927.42 points compared to the previous close of 11,914.21 points, as the benchmark Asian indices showed a steady performance and also as the fears eased over OPEC producer Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Oil prices steadied after their recent fall. London Brent crude rose about 0.5 per cent in Asian trading on Tuesday, and was trading at US dollar 68.08 per barrel mark.
Currently the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is trading ten points up at 11,924 points.
Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE there were two losers, auto sector down by 0.13 per cent and the consumer durables sector, which was down by 0.09 per cent. Besides, the pack of gainers was led by metals sector, up by 0.68 per cent, and followed by PSU, which was up by 0.67 per cent, Bankex was up by 0.64 per cent and the health care sector was up by 0.42 per cent.
Also, amongst the Dollex indices, Dollex-30 was up by 0.18 per cent, Dollex-100 up by 0.29 per cent and Dollex-200 up by 0.33 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were - SBI, Ranbaxy, Guajarat Ambuja Cement, ACC, Reliance Communications, Cipla, Hero Honda, Satyam Computers, Tata Steel and Reliance Energy, all up between 0.62 to 1.55 per cent.
Major losers were - Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, ICICI, Dr Reddy's Lab, Infosys, Wipro, Bharti Airtel and L&T, all down between 0.21 to 1.04 per cent.
