'BJP confident of proving majority in Jharkhand'
Hyderabad, Sept 5: Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today expressed confidence that the Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand would prove majority even after three independent ministers have resigned from the state cabinet.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Naidu said the party, which was closely watching the political developments in Jharkhand, was confident that the BJP-led government would survive despite the Congress trying to topple it.
Alleging that the Congress High Command was actively involved in de-stabilising the state government and had not learnt lessons when it tried to topple the government with the support of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) last year.
Mr Naidu said the Congress was losing confidence.
Resoponding to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao's statement that TRS would move a private bill for Telangana in the coming winter session of Parliament, the BJP leader said the statehood issue would not be solved by moving a private bill.
He alleged that the Congress was playing ''double standards'' on Telangana by saying that the party was committed to Second States' Reorganisation Commission to decide on the issue.
Only the BJP, if it comes to power, could solve the long pending statehood for Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, he added.
