Kamlesh Singh resigns from Munda Cabinet

Ranchi, Sept 5: Jharkhand's Water Resources Minister Kamlesh Singh today resigned from the Arjun Munda-BJP led NDA ministry.

Mr Singh told reporters here since Mr Munda had lost faith in him, there was no point in continuing in the cabinet anymore.

He said, ''Even a sub-inspector creates hurdle in the way of a minister and maligns the prestige of a minister.'' He was referring to his experience in Jamshedpur last night when he had to return here after being prevented from going to Delhi via Kolkata.

Last night police "misbehaved" with him in Jamshedpur as he was on way to Kolkota, Mr Singh said. "The police officers stopped me saying it was an order from the Chief Minister not to let him go and forcibly lock him in a guest house", he added.

The Rashtravadi Congress Party legislator said he was going to Delhi via Kolkata to hold talks with the three dissident ministers, who were unhappy with the state government.

The trio was now seen in close association with UPA leadership in a plot to form an alternative government in Jharkhand.

Mr Singh said the behaviour of police was not tolerable and it was a black chapter in the history of democracy.

Mr Singh last year won the election from Hussainabad of Palamu and supported the erstwhile UPA government led by Mr Sibu Soren in the state and became a minister.

After the Soren government fell down, he shifted loyalty to the BJP led NDA government.

With the ongoing political turmoil plaguing the present Munda government, he again was seen on the side of UPA.

The RCP is a coalition partner of the UPA goverment at the Centre.
