18 TRS MLAs suspended for fourth day
Hyderabad, Aug 31: Eighteen members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the fourth consecutive day on the last day of the ongoing monsoon session today for obstructing the proceedings of the House.
The TRS members wearing black shirts with a Telangana map printed on them, trooped into the well, shouted pro-Telangana slogans and demanded a discussion on their Adjournment Motion and a resolution recommending the Centre to carve out a separate state.
The Speaker repeatedly told the TRS members to take their seats and facilitate a meaningful discussion on the issue. He told them they were being suspended for a day every day, expecting they would introduce a debate in the House on the Telangana issue.
He also assured them that they would get an opportunity to vent their feelings during the day today.
After repeated requests failed, the Speaker directed Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to move the motion to suspend the members named by him for the day.
Moving the motion under Sub-rule 2 of Rule 300 of the Assembly proceedings, Mr Rosaiah said he was doing so with great pain for the fourth consecutive day. He said he was compelled to move the motion as the TRS members were not heeding the advice of the Speaker.
Later, the motion was adopted by a voice vote. When the TRS members did not leave even after suspension, the Speaker adjourned the House for half-an-hour and the Marshals carried them out.
