Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Inclement weather and heavy rains following a low pressure on Orissa coast forced Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to reschedule his visit to Kaniha to dedicate the largest power house Talcher Super Thermal Power Station to the nation today.

The Prime Minister arrived here at the Biju Patnaik airport from Delhi at 1045 hours on a two-day visit to the state to dedicate the 3000 MW Talcher Super Thermal Power station of the NTPC at Kaniha in Talcher, to tour the flood ravaged areas and review the KBK programmes.

Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik received him at the Biju Patnaik Airport.

Mr.Singh was scheduled to fly to Kaniha from the airport but the programme was cancelled due to heavy rains. After waiting for more than an hour at the airport, the Prime Minister finally drove to the Raj Bhawan to interact with the government officials and Congress leaders.

Official sources said if the weather condition permitted, the Prime Minister would fly to Kaniha in the afternoon to dedicate the largest power station of the country to the nation.

Mr.Singh would also make an aerial survey of the flood affected areas of Coastal Orissa today provided the weather condition improved.

He would visit the Institute of Physics today and announce the setting up of National Institute of Science(NIS), Bhubaneswar.

In the evening the Prime Minister would address the press inside the Raj Bhawan.

Mr.Singh would visit Bolangir and Koraput areas tomorrow morning to undertake the review of KBK programmes and return to New Delhi in the evening.
