BSE index opens 50 points in the green today
Mumbai, Aug 17: The BSE sensitive index today opened 50 points in the green as the foreign indices firmed on account of low US inflation rates and strong buying sentiments on the domestic bourses.
Decline in crude price to US Dollar 71.89 per barrel mark assisted in edging the counters high.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex opened at 11,498.47 points and soon touched the high of 11,551.59. It is currently trading at 11,476.28 points which is 28.27 points more than the previous close.
However, the mid cap was down by 0.84 per cent and small cap was down by 1.29 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were Tata Motors up 2.03 per cent and Dr Reddy's Lab up 2.50 per cent.
Losers were Reliance Energy down by 2.09 per cent and Tata steel down by 1.65 per cent.
