Sensex 72 points up as crude oil price drops
Mumbai, Aug 16: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index today opened 72 points in the green as the decline in crude oil price below US Dollar 73 per barrel mark boosted the market sentiment in the favour of buyers.
The BSE sensex opened at 11,384.05 points and soon touched the high of 11,496.84. It is currently trading at 11,472.58 points which is 159.59 points more than the previous close.
The midcap was up 2.00 per cent and smallcap was up by 2.09 per cent.
The sectoral indices on the BSE were also trading in the green led by metals, Banks and the Auto sector between 2.5 to 2.0 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, Ranbaxy, Hindalco and Wipro all up between 2.24 and 4.41 per cent.
Losers were Balrampur Chini, Indian Hotels and Bajaj Hind all down between 0.56 to 4.70 per cent.
