Dissolve govt, face polls: Sharief to K'taka CM

Mysore, Aug 7: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader C K Jaffer Sharief today demanded that Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy dissolve the state assembly and seek a fresh mandate.

Participating in a meet-the-press programme organised by the Mysore Reporters Guild here, he said the government had lost its moral right to continue in office with it failing to provide good governance and the Chief Minister facing serious corruption charges.

Mr Sharief said the Congress had been further strengthened by the entry of former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Admitting that he was offered the post of Bihar Governor by the party high command, he said he had rejected the offer to continue in the mainstream of politics and serve the people.

Brushing aside reports that he was being sidelined in the party, he pointed out that he had been made an AICC Working Committee member.
