Accenture consultant for Air India-Indian merger
Bangalore, Jul 31: The merger of Air India and Indian has gained momentum, with the Air India Board approving the appointment of M/s Accenture as the Consultant for advising on the merger.
The Board, which met on July 29, had given the company the broad terms of reference to prepare a roadmap, which included issues involved in the merger especially related to integration of flight schedules, network, infrastructure, marketing and distribution channels, integration and rationalisation of the fleet, subsidiary companies, and asked it to develop business strategy and plans for the merged entity.
The firm had also been asked to support change management and communication during the pre and post-merger stages and look into issues involved in integration of manpower resources and support implementation of various integration measures and initiatives for a period of one year after the merger, according to a release here today.
Accenture, assuring that experienced key personnel in the field of mergers and amalgamations would be deployed on the project, said initial work related to pre-merger involving merger conceptualisation, valuation and planning would be completed within ten weeks from the date of award of mandate to enable the companies to prepare a detailed note to the Government for its approval, the release said.
After getting the Government consent, the necessary merger process which involved developing business strategy and operating plan for the merged entity, including operational integration, would be taken up and completed within the next 16 weeks for the merged entity to come into existence, the release said.
The assignment of Accenture included post-merger integration issues and implementation support for a period of 52 weeks following the merger, it added.
