Kolkata, Jul 13: Deferring the anti-price rise movement following the Mumbai blasts, the ruling Left Front in West Bengal today launched a four-day campaign against terrorism throughout the state as part of its all-India programme.

''We will take out silent processions in the city and all district towns of the state till July 16 to make people aware of the danger of terrorism and alert them against it,'' Left Front Chairman Biman Basu said.

Briefing reporters after an emergency meeting of the Front partners, Mr Basu said the anti-terrorism campaign was part of the anti-imperialiom movement of Left parties. ''Terrorism is the creation of imperialism. It is through terrorism that the process of destroying democracy starts,'' he said.

The Front Chairman also appealed to non-Left parties to participate in the campaign.

In reply to a question, Mr Basu the BJP had no moral right to criticise the UPA Government for the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and the criticism it made proved the party's 'political bankruptcy'.

The Front would embark on a campaign from July 17 to 19 demanding the government to safeguard against soaring prices of essential commodities, and initiate measures for rice procurement and adequate food stock.

''If there is no safeguard there will be no leash on price rise.

The centre should have intervening capacity and increase the food stock,'' Mr Basu said, adding the campaign would include street meetings and processions.

He said the government should also remain alert against any artificial crisis.
