Srinagar blasts: Few more militants arrested
Srinagar, July 13: Jammu and Kashmir police has conducted night-long, valley-wide raids to nab the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Mudasir who masterminded grenade attacks on tourists on July 11 in the summer capital, a senior police officer said.
''We have launched a major offensive against the Mudasir alias Raju alias Mansoor, a dreaded militant of Pakitan based LeT,'' Inspector General of police S M Sahai told UNI.
''During the raids, we have arrested few more militants and busted a number of hideouts, he said, adding Mudasir was still at large.
Police have released a photograph of Mudasir, the mastermined behind the series of grenade blasts in the city on July 11 in which eight persons were killed and 38 wounded.
The Kashmir police has also announced a reward of Rs five lakhs for anyone providing information about him.
The police chief in Kashmir said the militants involved in the series of blasts have been identified and they will be behind the bars soon.
''We are after Mudasir who is also involved in other militancy incidents,'' he said, adding they were on the right track and will get him soon.
About the raids, he said these were conducted on the information provided by the militant arrested by the police at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) after fifth grenade blast on July 11.
He said during a raid at Deyalgam yesterday, a LeT militant was killed by the police.
