BEFI opposes UPA decision to disinvest NALCO
Kolkata, June 27: Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) has opposed the UPA government's decision to disinvest profit making public sector enterprises like NALCO, Neyveli Lignite Corporation and NMDC in violation of the Common Minimum programme.
A BEFI release said the Cabinet has cleared the sale of 10 per cent shares of NALCO, Neyveli Lignite Corporation and NMDC.
''We strongly oppose the government's decision to privatise these public sector enterprises and have sent protest telegram to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, appealing to him to abandon the sucidal path,'' it said.
''We have called upon all our units in the country to send similar telegrams to the Prime Minister,'' it added.
''We support the agitation programmes, including strike actions of the workers and employees of the three PSU and have called upon our units to mobilise their members in joint programmes of solidarity in their respective areas of operations,'' it added.
