BSNL staff condemn disinvestment in NLC, NALCO
Chennai, June 26: Members of the BSNL Employees Union (Tamil Nadu), staged a demonstration in front of the Anna Road GPO here today, in protest against the Union Government's move to disinvest ten per cent stake in the profit-making public sector undertakings of NLC and NALCO.
Addressing the protestors, state secretary of the union R Gunasekaran, who led the demonstration, strongly condemned the move and said it was a pure violation of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
He urged the Union Government to drop the move immediately, as it would affect the interest of the working class of the respective public sector undertakings.
He called upon the leaders of all political affiliations to persuade the Centre to give up disinvestment in NLC and NALCO.
