Jayalalitha favours third front at natl level

Chennai, Jun 22: All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa expressed optimism about the formation of third front at the national level.

Welcoming the move by the Left to form a third front sans the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ms Jayalalithaa, talking to newspersons at the party headquarters here, said there was considerable development in the formation of the third front and leaders were in touch with her.

Refusing to disclose the names of the leaders, she said ''the concerned important leaders are talking to me on the third front.'' She replied in the affirmative when asked whether the third front was possible. ''It is certainly possible,'' she said adding that in the present political sitution, the third front was necessary to protect the interest of the people.
