Kalam condemns militants attack on RSS HQ
New Delhi, Jun 2: President A P J Abdul Kalam has strongly condemned an attempt by the militants to strike at the RSS Headquarters in Nagpur yesterday, saying ''such attacks are condemnable outright and the nation has to fight the menace of terrorism unitedly.''
In a statement here today, Dr Kalam complimented the Maharashtra Police for their prompt and timely action in thwarting the designs of militants.
''The President wishes injured policemen a speedy recovery,'' the statement said.
In a desperate bid to whip up communal frenzy, three heavily-armed terrorists had made a vain attempt to blow up the RSS headquarters but were shot dead by an alert police force in an encounter.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani were among those who condemned the attack.
In a statement yesterday, Dr Singh appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and said, the entire nation is united against terrorism. All communities should live in amity and peace.
