Medicos continues agitation in Guj; ignores SC directives
Ahmedabad, May 31: Undeterred by the Supreme Court's directives to the medical fraternity to resume duty, medicos in Gujarat today continued their agitation against the 27 per cent OBC quota in centres of higher education.
Medical students, interns and junior doctors have continued their awareness campaigns and hunger strike on the 18th day today.
Students of B J Medical and V S Medical colleges in the city have continued their public awareness campaigns with door-to-door campaigning in the posh Sahibaug area of the city.
While, students of B J Medical college have continued their hunger strike on the 7th-day today.
Private practitioners and dentists, who had remained off from the medical services for a day yesterday in support of the agitation, today resumed their work.
The strike has crippled medical services in general hospitals in the State, causing problems to the patients.
However, two junior doctors were attending duty in each shift in Government hospitals to attend to emergencies. The health department, too, was co-ordinating with private hospitals to provide services in emergency cases.
