JIPMER doctors, PG students continue stir
Pondicherry, May 31 : Services at the centrally - administered JIPMER hospital here were affected for the second day today as the resident doctors and Post-Graduate students continued their strike.
The doctors and the students had embarked on a 48-hour strike yesterday to express solidarity with the doctors all over the country agitating against the Centre's proposed 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher education.
The striking JIPMER doctors observed a slogan shouting dharna in front of the hospital.
Only the casualty and emergency wards of the hospital worked with the head of the departments taking over. However, all surgeries were postponed, hospital sources told UNI.
A spokesman of the resident doctors association said that the striking doctors had donated blood yesterday.
Patients coming from the far off districts of neighbouring Tamil Nadu were referred to the government general hospital.
