Boat capsize: Hurriyat, JKLF call for strike on June 1
Srinagar, May 31: Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) have called for a general strike tomorrow as a mark of respect for the school children who drowned in Wullar Lake yesterday.
Addressing a news conference here, breakaway Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani alleged that that it was a ''conspiracy'' by the ''Indian security agencies'' against the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
''It is a deliberate attempt against the Kashmiris,'' he said and demanded a probe into the incident by an international agency.
Mr Geelani called upon the people to observe shutdown tomorrow as a mark of respect to the deceased and solidarity with the bereaved families.
He blamed teachers of Burning Candle School and the navy personnel for the tragedy.
In a statement here, moderate Hurriyat Conference, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, also called for a complete shutdown tomorrow.
The JKLF headed by Yasin Malik has also called for a strike tomorrow over the tragic incident.
