'Railways will provide facility for trade with Pak'
Amritsar, May 28 : Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today said that all faclities would be provided to boost trade with Pakistan through the Attari-Lahore rail route.
''If the influx of trade with Pakistan on this route increases in the future, the railways will provide additional wagons as per the demand'', he said while talking to reporters after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple along with his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and other family members.
At present the trade through the rail route was limited and for this the railways had provided sufficient wagons, he said. However with relations with Pakistan improving, the trade could increase and if this happens then the railways will provide all facilities to the traders, he added.
Refering to the Attari railway station the minister said that it had already been decided to upgrade the station to international standards. All facilities avaliable at international airports will be provided at Attari, as it is one of the most important stations of the country, he said.
On the demand of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandik Committee (SGPC) to start a passenger train between Amritsar and Jaganathpuri, Mr Yadav said that this link would be established very soon.
The Railway minister, his wife Mrs Rabri Devi and other family members were honoured with 'siropas' by the SGPC after they had paid homage at the Golden Temple.
